Being a waitress is not as easy as I thought

phew......

Finally I have some "free time" to update my blog =p

Well, First of all, Happy Chinese New Year & Gong Xi Fa Cai to everyone, to my love ones =)

Well, this is my first time not spending CNY with my family... I spent the whole weekend busy working. Day time worked in McDonald's and night time worked in Huddle House till 6am, for both Friday and Sat. I got home on Sunday morning and got to talk with my family via video call, I was tired but just dont feel like sleeping yet because I wanna talk more with them, wanna see everyone back home. =p Then I went to bed at 8am and slept till 2pm till my friends from Brazil woke me up and said " let's go to the Fun World".

In order not to waste my offday (in McDonald's), I woke up and went together with them, spent 2.5 hours playing and enjoying with them before I went to work in Huddle House again at 6pm. Gosh I had only 1 meal right before I started working for the whole day and night. swt....

Now I should get back to the topic.

It's not as easy as I thought to be a waitress in the United State. We make good $$ for receiving tips. However, when the business is very good, and there's only you running around the whole restaurant, it's very very confusing and I kind of stressed out on Saturday night, furthermore, I am still new. I cant be as fast as the other waitress especially when ring up the order in the computer... Well, luckily I have a good cook who is always there to calm me down and help me. And I hope I can handle much better next weekend. =p Oh ya, and I stupidly cut my fingers when preparing spliced lemons. swt.... so inconvenient to do my work with two broken fingers. LOL... but not to worry, they are getting better now. =)

The cook I mentioned, named Kim. At first, I thought she were a guy because she act exactly like a guy. Until one night I saw her walked into the ladies. I was really confused about her gender for 2 days and further confirmed she's a female when I saw her full name in the computer screen as "Kimberly". OMG..... She likes girl though. And she just told me in sms that she's attracted to me. swt...... I was like.... (speechless) and I have no idea how to response and react. seriously. But anyway, she knows I'm leaving in 2 months time, so... I think I'm still pretty "safe" and I think she will treat me as good friend maybe.

Well, it's time to go get ready for work again... haiz... I'm off in McDonald's Hayesville, but I'm on schedule in McDonald's Hiawassee from 3-8pm. Tired dao~.....

2nd and 3rd Job

I've been here for 7 weeks. My schedules are pretty stable with Sunday and Monday off and work from noon time to evening everyday for 5 days a week in Hayesville.

For the week that had just past, I've got a "second job" working in McDonald's Hiawassee, which I will only work for 5-7 hours a week on Monday. Last Friday I received a call from Jennifer from Hiawassee after I came back from Hayesville, and thus I went to continue working in Hiawassee from 9pm to closing (about 1:30am). It was tiring, but I'm still young. I think I can cope with it and I want more $$ coming in. hehehe...

On the same day (Friday) morning, I took the courage to walk in the damn cold weather and went to the Huddle house and asked for a job as restaurant server. On the same day, when I was busy in mcDonald's drive through, I recieved a call and it was Jay, the Huddle House owner and I was so thrilled that I was hired and he asked me to go training on Sunday morning! So from now on, I'll be having 3 jobs, 2 in Mcdonalds and 1 in Huddle House.

Today was my first day training in the Huddle House, from 8am-2pm. I was pretty lost because taking order is not as easy as I think especially I have no idea on what's on the menu! However, I think I was doing pretty good and hopefully after study for the menu today I will work better. hehe. I have all together 3 days training in the morning with $7 per hour wage and from next Friday and Saturday onwards, I can start receiving my tips and I'll be working from 10pm- 6am because they open 24 hours. It's crazy, I know, but just that 2 nights, so I should be fine =)

I like both my name tags and this is how a server look like in the United States =p

Unpleasant feeling

Tonight, is the 2nd time I cried ever since the 1st night arrival in Georgia.

I also dont know why feeling so down today. Haiz... All these while, I keep telling myself, I can do it! I can survive and get over it even though I am alone! I will adapt very soon! I can make new friends!.............

Well, till now, when people asked me, "how are you doing? having fun in USA?", I find it difficult to answer. Normally I'll say, "I'm fine" or "still adapting". But do I really feel good? I donno. Most of the time, I tell myself, be strong and you will get through this!

Tonight I felt really down, for no reason. Try to think back the whole journey and everything before I came and stuffs, I felt like I'm going through the hard way and I kind of regret. From the beginning of getting no news from Lakeshore resort, until decided to work in mcD with Zoe and waited impatiently for the DS2019 for VISA, till I finally accept that Zoe is not coming anymore, till the transportation issues to work, and getting a 2nd job is not that easy at this time here... But I think the one upset me the most is, I thought I'm cheerful enough to go through these. I thought I can make new friends and join their fun in a short while. Now only I realised, I'm not. I find it hard to get close with them, even though they seem very friendly at the begining. Their common topic is always about their kids. I think this is why I couldnt join in. LOL....

Well, I know there' s no turning back and I have to keep on going. So, for those who cares a lot about me, no worries. I'm just wanna let it out and after this I'll feel better and continue my adventure here with smile again =) Hope things will turn out good and smooth eventually... Pray for me to get a waitress job successfully and earn more $$. Rofl....

Life goes on

Throughout the whole week, I feel happy, I feel sad, I feel disappointed, I feel glad....

I felt sad because the discounted ticket to Orlando on 23rd Jan has gone!!! I'm not able to have reunion dinner with Haozhi they all on CNY eve anymore unless I pay $80 more for the bus ticket. Well, in the end, I decided to go 1 week after CNY. To console myself, I told myself that it's still chinese new year because havent passsed "shi wu". LOL... They cant possibly take offdays and bring me around anymore for the changed dates because they had plans to Miami. Well, I felt disappointed at first but, what to do... Maybe I can just walk around with Silvia they all and wait for them (friends in Orlando) to finsih work only spend time together ba... Haiz

Well, we went bowling with Brooke and Matt on Sunday evening and had fun for our offday. The two loving couples are really making me misses my dear a lot. LOL...

John came on Monday because our basement got 1 pipe was broken and he came to try fix it. Well, after he went back, my housemate suddenly ran and asked me to call John immediately because there's no water in the kitchen. Thus, I called but it was forwarded into his voicemail and thus, I left a message for him to ask him call back. Then, Henrique ran to us and asked us to check out downstairs in the basement. OMG... it nearly became basement swimming pool due to the broken pipe and again, we called John for SOS. Since we cant reach him at that moment, all of us ran around like mad to find the main switch for water. Fortunately, I found it outside our house and asked Henrique to switch it off on time. About 1 hour later, John finally call back and said he'll come again as he's already reaching his home (which is 1 hour away in Clarkesville).

The whole day we were so busy for the broken pipe and thus, we just went out for lunch and have a walk around downtown. John, the poor thing, gotta rush here and there to help us fixing. The pipe was finally fixed on Tuesday and John stayed alone at the basement, cleaning and drying the carpet and everything because we all gotta work on Tuesday.

Lately I've been eating too much of cheese as the Brazilian likes to cook everything with baked cheese... Therefore, since my work finish at 6pm today, I volunteer to cook some chinese dish and here's the end result =p (I even call my mom to ask how to steam egg and fish... LOL)

ABC soup

Fried cabbage with carrot

Steamed egg with minced meat

I have to say I really damn semangat looking for blogs and recipes for chinese food today. Dont know why. Hahaha... Maybe I'm just too sick of hamburgers and cheese, or maybe I'm just too scared of gaining weight when I go back home. Hahahahhahaa =p

New year 2009 in Atlanta, Georgia

Woohoo!!!!

We crazy people! Took 2.5 hours journey to Underground Atlanta for new year countdown and walking, standing in the "freezer" for 2 hours! That night was really really cold and I thought it'll be alright or better when we get into the crowds for the countdown. BUT it's not the case. It was like -1 degree Celcius and very strong wind keep blowing on us and I found no where to hide even though there's LOTS of people crowding together! Oh man!... Seriously regretted not to wear the super thick jacket out.

Anyway, it was a fun trip as the couple that brought us to Atlanta is very fun and young. Brooke was the driver and she's the cute little Mandy (Mandy's sister) who just got her 1st baby with her. Haha... her husband, Matt is only turning 24 and he's quite cool and funny too. Both of them are just so cool to hang out with and Matt loves to make his own rap songs with his brothers.

On the way to Atlanta, we stopby Wendy's for quick dinner as we really dont want to miss the peach drop. Haha...

Well, it was 10:30pm when we reached there (even though we departed at about 7:00pm from Brooke's house) and outside was just soooooo cold that really freak me out. I've never felt like this before. Somemore the heater of the van that Brooke drove was broken and thus, can you imagine how cold I was??? LOL... it's definitely CRAZY!!! We had fun though and, know what, because 3 of them are underage (the legal age for drinking in the united states is 21) and thus, we had our champagne in the mcDonald's cup and cheers in the van. LOL.

I took a couple of videos and photos and it's uploaded in my facebook. =)

Well, talking back to my work, I was trained to work at the drive through window these 2 days. hehe... finally got to see people, NOT hambergers all day. LOL... Anyway, I think it's not as fun as I thought to work at the drive through because it's pretty boring to repeat "Hi, how are you?", "here's your drink/food" "thank you" to every customer. hahahah..... I'm very picky, I know. =p

Ok, now comes the serious stuff. I always know and feel really paiseh for people who come all the way here to pick me up for work and drop me home because they all stay in Hayesville. And I wasn't aware of the transport fee until my manager told me yesterday that, maybe I should pay some gas fee (about $5) for the people who come to pick me when they are not on their schedule. Well, I understand this. And now it really trouble me because, I wish I can save more $ but it's unfair for the other people to spend their petrol and time to get me, and at the same time, it's unfair for me if I moved back to Hayesville alone. You know?... And at the same time it's unfair for my boss if he/she were the one who pay for my transport as, I'm just a part time worker afterall... Well, I'm still thinking how to talk to my boss regarding this issue as, I really need to settle this problem before my pocket is burst or before nobody willing to come get me eventually. =(
